Many people have asked us what the recent Colorado stay-at-home order means for real estate. We’ve compiled some FAQs to help!
Can people still buy or sell a home in Colorado right now? In Colorado, Real Estate has been categorized as a “Critical Business”, which allows real estate professionals to continue offering services as long as we all comply with social distancing and safety guidelines mandated by the CDC.
Why is Real Estate a critical business? Job transfers, sellers with contingent offers on another home, and timely family situations are just a couple of the reasons people need to continue to buy or sell their Colorado home. Our governor and mayors also recognize the huge role real estate plays in our economy and they want to make sure our state keeps moving forward.
Is it business as usual? Real Estate may be “Critical Business”, but it certainly is not “Business as Usual”. For those of you who must buy/sell now due to relocation, lease expiration, or the like, we are encouraging creative alternatives to showing and viewing properties. Technology will be a key component to utilize at this time. Many properties are offering virtual tours. While all open houses have been canceled, showings are still possible, but we highly recommend thoroughly screening it online, driving by the home and neighborhood and discussing the home in depth with your Realtor. Showings are being scheduled to ensure no other people will be on the property allowing safe distancing.
Are people still selling and buying homes? Yes! Well, kind of. We have noticed a dip in listings, but we’ve been pleasantly surprised as we continue to see movement. For example, Tablerock in Golden, one of the neighborhoods where we specialize, have two beautiful homes that JUST LISTED.
Should I buy or sell a home right now? If you can wait to buy/sell this is an excellent time to get organized and extra prepared once the stay-at-home orders are lifted. If you would like some guidance on how to prepare, just give us a ring.
