We are in constant awe of our real estate agent community here in Denver. As the school year begins, we wanted to highlight one cause in particular: Food For Thought. Bob Bell, a charismatic, kind, local real estate agent, created Food for Thought in 2012 with the goal of alleviating kids' hunger - especially over the weekends - in Denver's schools. Initially, Bob and some other volunteers were able to raise enough money to supply weekend food bags to two Denver public schools. Fast forward to 2021, Food For Thought now works with 72 Denver area schools and continues to be a 100% volunteer organization.
Every Friday, individuals (many of which are realtors!), students and corporate volunteers gather at one of three Denver area locations to pack food bags for students to take home to their families that weekend. If you interested in participating, please sign up on their website to join the energetic group of volunteers or to donate. We've been many times and it's an awesome way to start your weekend!
While we are impressed by so many parts of this organization, perhaps the most impressive is they have no employees and pay no salaries. Overhead costs are covered by their board and individual or corporate donations so as much money as possible goes to the students and their families.
Thanks to everyone at Food For Thought for all that you do for Denver!
